Day 4 - Tineo to Colinas de Arriba: Exaltation of the Cross

Today's hike began, after a morning of Mass and prayer, in a fog-enshrouded Tineo with a steady climb up to higher elevations. These mountains are much like the Alps in their sudden rises even if lower overall. The ardors of our path gave us much upon which to contemplate in the mystery of our Saviour's Passion, albeit on a much smaller scale. It became an invitation to remain in the present moment and to find Him there. As we climbed the fog lifted and gave us magnificent vistas.
Old farm buildings - still in use - dotted the landscape cementing the region's old world charm.
Once we topped the ridge, the views reached long distances over pastures and farms.
Our trail contined onto forested paths lined by moss-enshrouded stone walls and sword-tail ferns and finally ended at Colinas de Arriba where we found our lodging. Overall around 12 miles traversed - a good day.
